Crysodroll is the new side project of Lars Jensen, a member of Drollkoppz. While Drollkoppz are specializing on full-on psytrance nowadays, Crysodroll is trying to keep the progressive spirit of the good old days alive while infusing it with melodic, hypnotic, and quirky soundscapes. Mixing up modern groove elements with hints of classic vibes, Crime Scene, presented by WDG-Music, makes a statement of how blasting progressive psytrance with an attitude can sound in 2015. I very much dislike the way this artist has casually used samples about prison because they mention the names of drugs. This sort of casual treatment of very serious subjects seems utterly contrary to the idea of ‘psychedelic’ music.
Otherwise, this EP seems fairly skeletal and unmemorable prog. The mastering is good, and there is groove, but nothing much to make these songs special or emotional.
