Serenity is a new album by DarkShiRe (Mario Sounoglou), a Greek producer with a long history of quality releases on illustrious labels such as Parvati and Discovalley Records. Released on his own independent imprint, Zourlia Records, this album captures another side of DarkShiRe: full power morning trance. Darkpsy fans will immediately recognize the rich palette of psychedelic sounds and powerful drive of night music in these songs but the outcome, when transformed by the first rays of dawn, is manifestly different and undeniably striking. Id love to say its great but its not DarkShire at his best. I do like some of the tracks here but, For me the majority sound too much alike. You really need to experiment a bit more imho. Also the drumkick drowns out a lot of the mids and highs (maybe its on purpose) but I guess that’s a mastering issue?

More upfront leads would drive this into a new direction. As it is I am reminded of a sound that sits somewhere between full on and psygressive and a dark edge.

Tracks 1-3 and the last track “Deceptive Cadence” – wow!
Someone mentioned a similarity to Ekoplex and that is 100% accurate – this is a gorgeous blend of dark, energy-driven psy with some fascinating and beautiful elements throughout. A great musical contrast across the entire album, love this one!
