Neogoa will send you back in the golden years of Goa trance music with a new solo release by Dragon Twins (Mathias Pico) from Antwerp, Belgium. After hearing his first appearances on Cronomi Records and Underground Alien Factory Records compilations in 2013 we decided to present his music on our label to shine fully. Only For The Wicked is a 5-track release filled with acidic melodies and rich details, all spiced up with wicked atmospheres. All tracks written and produced by Mathias Pico, except track #3, written and produced by Simon Felix (Daimon). Mastering by Stryder at Beavernest Atop Studios. Dragons painting by Arne Wastyn (Ramskop) with artwork design by Ivan Parić (Richpa) at Neogoa Design.

ehm, dude, regardless of the music quality, imho, this is not an acceptable mastering / sound quality in 2014..
reminds me of the classics what can not possibly be found in a reasonable digital quality to play..
the mastering was done as requested by the artist Dragon Twins to resemble as much as possible the dynamics of ‘Daft Punk – Get Lucky’ and since Get Lucky is the best song of 2013, i guess this kind of mastering is doable in 2014!
in other words: the mastering is done on purpose to sound like oldschool psy-trance releases like Hallucinogen!
There’s of course always room for debate or own opinions, but if ‘acceptable mastering’ means dynamically squashed music like 90% of nowadays music, then yeah, I’ll do everything I can to NOT go that way! :) If that’s not your cup of tea then there’s always other music to listen to, and no offence will be taken. ;) Thanks for the support everyone!
Personally I find it refreshing even if it’s considered as “old” by some people. In my head, good music = good music, no matter what technique is used. Anyway, the release is another gem of Neogoa and I’m really proud to be a part of this talented family of artists.

Well okay, sorry about the way I’ve put it!
If it was intentional, than for sure, cool :)
Still, I feel the soundscape just leaking to all directions in all freq ranges, and even while I really love oldschool stuff, for my ears, it’s rather distracting than refreshing..
For ex. Arronax sound is a good example for what I really appreaciate in classical sound.
And true that, good music is good music, but let me add two things:
1, I can really enjoy quite average (NOT bad) music, when ever the sound quality is extremely high, all the dynamics and channels perfectly balanced.
2, It can be really disappointing, when ever I find something AWESOME, but it_just_doesn’t come trough the speakers :/ (especially played on larger sound systems)

truely psychedelic!
I really don’t think this production/mastering successfully imitates classic goa at all. It’s muddy and sounds quite possibly edited with digital mastering plugins or limiters. I think it sounds pretty bad.
Hallucinogen sounds absolutely AMAZING on big speakers, so I don’t see how this could be compared to that.
The compositions are good, so I agree with Narny, it’s a shame.
the leads are so shrill and harsh on the ears, and the drums (especially the kick) lack clarity/definition
