Ektoplazm proudly presents Children Of The Light, the sixth album from the legendary ManMadeMan (Sonya Bailey & Paul Baguley). Over the years ManMadeMan has built up an extraordinary reputation releasing music on countless labels and gigging all over the world. In 2007 the band independently released Free To Listen direct to the Internet, thereby becoming one of the first major EDM acts to fully embrace the free music model of digital distribution. After being amazed and inspired by the reaction to all of this, ManMadeMan now returns to share a new album bursting with creativity and filled with fresh ideas. Children Of The Light is an incredibly diverse production, running the gamut from tribal progressive trance and ethereal downtempo to full-on floor-burning madness, all interwoven with ManMadeMan’s signature sound. This album is dedicated to all the listeners, dancers, labels, artists, and children that have changed the course of history.

  • Stupidfrog says:

This CD doesn’t appear in the shop though. As well as some old releases (unless they are sold out). Just an FYI.

  • Ed Psikea says:

I respect Sonya but i dont really wanna MMM to lose the psychedelic ideas and vibes

  • Kekskiller says:

This is a really good album. High quality sound, clean and well arranged – the process of styles and content among it’s simple nature makes this release just beautiful. The density is perfect except some bits in track 5 (“Procession”).

Good stuff, hurry up and download it!

  • Kasper says:

An all around enjoyable album with a particularly delicious, slow-moving opener! I’m partial to the slower tracks on this album, as the throttled tempo is a better match for Manmademan’s spacy style. Light Craft, however, is a nice and energetic track. Great stuff!

  • JamesHT says:

I’ve been listening to this in my car. This album is exactly what the doctor ordered – clean, crisp sound, great beats, really interesting textures. Highly recommended!

  • Esimeres says:

    Great music!!!!!

  • OK, this LP is no Love Technology, but the upbeat stuff is proper. the bassline in conscious creators is off da hook!
    nicely done.

  • Mute says:

Just wondering, why is the album cover different here than on the artist’s website (and everywhere else for that matter)?

  • Basilisk says:

@Stupidfrog, have a look in the shop now. There is sometimes a delay from the day of release to when I launch the CD version of a release. Just gives me time to order a test copy and verify that the plant is manufacturing the CD properly!

@Mute, I designed a different cover for the official Ektoplazm release. ManMadeMan posted the album on their site a little while ago. With free music we can afford to be flexible with this sort of thing ;)

  • Squizz says:

    One word… Amazing!

  • DARK STAR says:

    Thanks! Good album! Enjoy!

  • Mute says:

Does this come with a .cue file to split the album? I know the gapless version is supposed to be continuous, but it is still nice to have be able to see what track you are playing.

  • tmth says:

I second this question. .cue sheet would be nice:)

  • Tessa says:

    I really like this.
    It makes my soul fly.

Your minds flow with me everyday…

  • Darryl R Taylor says:

Several years after downloading this album, and it still remains among the handful of my favourites.

I recently had the privilege of introducing a younger temporary room mate of mine from Ireland to Ektoplazm, starting with Children of Light, after I talked for a bit about how progressive music is actually a free form narrative, and great albums tell as much of a story as any rock opera. I also was able to tell him that in my opinion, without sounding derivative every track carries the resonance of an entire segment of electronic music at a level that is archetypal rather than simple genre.

He downloaded it and went into his room to listen to it on his headphones.

When I saw him the next morning, he was wide-eyed.

    It was glorious.

And I hope that someday an incredible movie maker listens to Children of Light, and brings something back that is a suitable visual track to go with the music, like a reversal of the traditional soundtrack.

There is some good true love and dedication that went into this, and I hope that has maintained with the producers over the years. They deserve it.
