After the great success of the Trip Of The Luna King EP, New Born (Tom Rarin) returns with another mesmerizing set of tunes written without concern for commercial conventions. In The Middle Of The Desert continues the tradition of deeply hypnotic downtempo Goa trance exemplified by Voodoof’s Thru (from TIP Orange) and MFG’s Mystic Dawn (from The Prophecy). This is followed by The Observer, a captivating epic that features nearly 24 minutes of swirling melodies and gently pulsating trance rhythms. Facets of The Muses Rapt seems to shine through in certain moments; New Born has channelled something of Juan Verdera’s emotional sensitivity in writing this piece. The Observer EP is bound to enthral listeners attuned to the forgotten lore of the old school masters.

This is a great album for anyone that likes there music to build up slowly to a climax.. This download has a very high quality sound. In the middle of the desert is a little more smooth and chillax, slowly adding new sounds as the track progressed. Theres a little bit of bass near the ending. The observer is more on the trance side. Starts out with a nice smooth background sound, and hard bass overlapping. The background sound gets more and more intense over the course of the song. Lot’s of funky sounds. About halfway through the track, another layer of sound gets added in, and the music get’s even more intense. Three quarters of the way through, the music changes slightly, with different funky sounds thrown in. At the end things climax to a point, and drops off quickly.
I very much enjoyed track 1, Track 2 was good but was quite repetative and a little long for my liking.
THE SECOND TRACK WHICH IS “OBSERVER” IS ALMOST IDEAL IN MY OPINION,(OLD SCHOOL COSMIC STATIC-

This is very descriptive music where the imagery really comes across. Excellent stuff!! Nice to have something that takes you back to the older days of Electronica and the scene that was around BEFORE Techno, Trance and PsyTrance.
Go check out some Klaus Schulze, John Dyson or any of that crowd. What do you mean, you’ve never heard of them? Go find out about them!
There’s a link between what we now call ‘Chillout’ and what we used to call ‘Electronica’. The key is melody and the combination of sequences that bring out the melody. This EP is an excellent example of that. You can sit down and listen to this at any time. Believe me, it soon puts you in a good mood.

New Born shows himself here the king of new skool lineair goa trance, variation, suttle details and very massive underlying trance layers: a deep yopurney into goa: this new skool quality sound will survive many other stuff, I’m pretty sure, this should be played more at parties!!! :)
