A perfect soundtrack for any trip into outer space, Wolf-e-Wolf’s Purple Planet is his first full-length album for Gravitas Recordings. Influences from deep dubstep and modern trap come together to create a fusion simultaneously digestible yet original. Swirling arpeggiation and cosmic synthesis populate this distant world, with 9 tracks that bob between vibes and tempos painlessly. Intermixing tribal styles and psychedelic bass, Of The Trees brings a bit of glitch hop flavor to Star Sniper, while California’s Shlump takes the title track and morphs it into a pulsing, swampy closer for the release. Mastering by Nick Wolfe. Artwork by Chris Halderman.

Excellent !
It’s been a while since I heard some actually good dubstep.
Wolf-e-Wolf has been a local legend here in Arkansas, USA. I remember when he introduced me to the great, melty, old school dubstep I’ve learned to know and love today. There is a lot of fantastic dubstep still coming out, it’s just hard to find it in a sea of over-hyped, generic pop.
Great job, Wolf-e-Wolf! I thoroughly enjoy your clean use of bassy harmonics mixed with chillout, head-bobbing rhythm. Keep up the awesome work, and thank you for this free release! I also thoroughly enjoyed the remixes from Of the Trees and Shlump.
Awesome album!! Absolutely love it! Only downside is it’s too short. Keep up the great work Wolf-e-Wolf!
ÜBER
There are some good synths and melodies on this album, but I feel overall the songs are too simplistic, and lack layering/depth.
3/5
I dont know how anybody classifies this as dubstep, and ive been in the EDM scene for 20 years. Idk, but regardless of that, to me this is more glitch/downtempo, but when i hear bassmusic, its just that, music with bass beats, reminds me of rap, like something someone would pump in their car in the ghetto, NOT dubstep.
ANYWAYS, Purple Planet & Marble Planet are probably the best tracks on the release, and have the freshest feel. 2020 is the next one thats not half bad. As for the rest, I feel that they lose all resemblence to any of the futuristicy glitch that i was expecting, and remain as simple downtempo-ey bass music.
I gave it 5 stars because while I may not personally like every track, i could still see the subtle ingeniousness behind each track.
Incredible album you’ve done there ! With is own style. Everything is done with details !
All i got say is tooooooooo sick, the bass drums intricate instruments and not one track failed to take me away to the purple planet, my kind beats
Good job, I really enjoyed all the flavours (Downtempo, dubstep, Bass music…)
But hey, do I sense a bit of Chiptune in these?
If U didn’t know it’s the music from old computers. I like that too.
5* for Wolf e wolf
Absolutely love this album. Exactly what I want to be hearing with those Trap vibes. Really well produced, interesting percussion and synths, with a great flow from start to finish.
This ting on aya is my man incredible trip. Underrated as hell.
Magnificentoo , i was waiting to hear something unique like that though it’s not easy to find it always , actually never. very cool
SO saucy!
