Gravitas Records brings you Withinity, the debut of Somatoast (Mark Rubin) from Austin, Texas. Rubin is a multi-instrumentalist who began recording and producing music as a teenager. He began to experiment with electronic realms less than three years ago and continues to experiment and improve his sound. Here, on his first release, swirling chord progressions mix with a motley palette of sounds, making these songs ideal for headphone excursions. This, however, does not detract from the danceability of this release—strong rhythms are carried through dubby bass lines and bouncy drum arrangements. Boston based audio/visual duo Zebbler Encanti Experience, consisting of Ben “Encanti” Cantil and Peter “Zebbler” Berdovsky, serve up their debut album Psychic Projections on Gravitas Recordings. Twelve tracks push the idea of multi-genrism in the truest sense of the word as the pair tackle both sides of the spectrum from face-melting dubstep and moombahton to thought-provoking downtempo and melodic hip hop. One notable unifying bond seeming to hold these tracks together is their continued attention to the psycho-actively sculpted sound design and powerful melodic progressions.
