DJ Nivoc – Infinity

Mix | Classic, Goa | July 14, 2010 | Posted by Basilisk

DJ Nivoc – Infinity
01 :: DJ Cosmix & Etnica - Kumba Mela [Matsuri]
02 :: Section X - Xperience [X.DR]
03 :: Semsis - Semsis [Koyote]
04 :: Nervasystem - Terraform [Psychic Deli]
05 :: Prana - Voyager III [Dragonfly]
06 :: Disco Volante - El Metro [Transient]
07 :: Underhead - Skuff 1 [Koyote]
08 :: Total Eclipse - Waiting For a New Life [T.I.P.]
09 :: Transwave - Cycles of Life [Symbiosis]
10 :: The Light - Dusk [A.A.A.]

Here is a blast from the past! Ten years ago, at the first rave I ever went to, I heard DJ Nivoc showcasing the early sound of Goa. In honour of the occasion, I have dusted off one of his old mixes from 1996 to give you a taste of the sound that first stoked my passion for psychedelic trance!

Infinity features very early releases from many of the classic labels, including Matsuri, Dragonfly, Psychic Deli, and Symbiosis. The early part of the mix is really quite sublime, with a focus on deeper analog soundscapes courtesy of Semsis, Nervasystem, Prana, and others. The energy levels begin to rise with Underhead’s overlooked classic Skuff 1, after which the listener is treated to a set of all-time classics from French artists Total Eclipse and Transwave. Enjoy the vintage old school flavour!

    It’s an awesome mix so just upon a first listen I thought “why not split it with a cue so I can listen to any of those tracks easily?”. So I made a cuefile I want to share with you folks, of course it’s far from ace but guess it’s better than nothing :) http://www.sendspace.com/file/od0hus

    Seems like anything really good, over 90% rating is hard for us to listen to.

    Where is the hidden track at the end? Is it on another Ektoplazm release?

    Notes
    Track 3 is incorrectly listed as “Semsis”.

    “Part of the profits of this CD will be donated to the Rainbow Gathering who feed and educate the homeless.”

    Mixed at the Temple of Love. Mastered at AEON Studio. Main artist name is credited as D.J. Nivoc on front cover but as DJ Nivoc on spine and disc.

    There’s a hidden track starting at around 9:45 after the last track. Total duration of track 10 is 16:09
    Track 10a is listed without mixname “Between The Beach And The City”.

    Total time: 76:56

  • Evan says:

    I don’t know if anyone will see this but, I was looking around in the Classic section and discovered this on the final page. Only after I had downloaded it did I realize that I had already owned a CD copy that I bought back in 1997 (I think it was). I certainly agree with everyone else here that it’s a great compilation. If I had to pick a favorite track, it would probably be the Prana.
    However, the “hidden track” at the end by The Light is over is not a different track. It’s a repetition of most of the same track slowed down a little. There’s about 20 seconds of silence, then the same track returns, about 3 minutes and 25 seconds later than when it began the first time.

  • Evan says:

    What I meant to say is that the “hidden track” at the end AFTER the track by The Light is over is a repetition of most of the same track slowed down a little.
    Sorry about that.
