This closely connected thematic album explores the levels below the surface of the world’s oceans, taking inspiration from mornings on the boat docks, sunrise on the pier, sailing in storms, and charting new territory. At times emotional, melodic, brooding, abstract, spacious, and open, Aquatikon is intended for the morning chill room, when you aren’t quite down, but you are wanting to level out, to get amniotic, to curl up and float into the waveforms. A distinct sonar sound used in dub effect is a fixture in each track, mimicking the navigational technology used by many underwater animals. This is music for neuronauts and mariners alike. Compiled by Basilisk and Akhentek, Entheos Audio Archive 3.0 showcases a dazzling array of psychedelic trance and downtempo music reflecting the spirit of the Entheos Summer Solstice Conference and Festival, an annual gathering of the Pacific Northwest tribal dance community. The story begins with powerful full-on psytrance but quickly drops into deep dubby soundscapes and hazy broken beats before cruising to a shimmering finale. Although heavily stacked with Canadian content, this compilation also includes a pair of offerings from our American kin as well as a special guest appearance by Norwegian producer Phobosphere.
