Helios is the début album from the Guernsey based DJ and producer Flexagon. Helios is aurally signposted with space and cosmos references as it takes the listener on a futuristic journey from downtempo beats and uplifting melodies to a euphoric crescendo of progressive psytrance, culminating in a cocoon-like track of contemplation and reflection. Those familiar with his tracks and mixes will revel in the intergalactic musicality of his expansive basslines and hypnotic melodies, while fans old and new will appreciate the intricate patterns Flexagon weaves with ethereal psychedelic sounds and deep, penetrating beats. Mastering by Colin Bennun @ The Stooodio.

Fantastic album, full of variation, I like!
I particularly like ‘Don’t Watch TV’, nice mellow proggy dreamtime vibes :)

Clearly using some nice analog synths here, but I think they are poorly EQ’d… too much treble. General lack of clarity in the production, like it is trying very hard to sound old school, but still has some very digital and heavy handed side chaining which clashes with the retro feel. It would likely sound great on the right system, though.
Very classic/70’s epic synth soundtrack drama in the compositions and melodies. I can dig it, although it doesn’t have enough energy for my mood most of the time.
Loving this. Track 5 is straight fire :)
