MerKaBa Records presents Imagination In Motion, the debut album by Sephira, a blue magnetic monkey whose tool of choice is magic and whose guide is the 4/4 beat of the psybient realm. This album showcases Sephira’s unique fusion of downtempo ambient spaces utilising twilight overtones and driving, rolling basslines to take you on a journey through psychedelic soundscapes of a playful nature. If you have ever heard one of his mixes then you know where his passion lies, although this can not prepare you for the unique style laid out in this album. So turn down the lights, line up your favourite poison, take a deep breath and let Sephira guide you to wherever you find yourself upon listening. Mastering by Colin Bennun @ The Stooodio, Bristol, UK, with artwork by Rizerax.

If u read this.. I was not referring to DnB breakbeat if that’s what u thought. But yes u’re quite right these days breakbeat is mostly used to say DnB. So what I meant was break beats a.k.a. breaks.

  • GOAflyakite says:

The opening followed by learning to walk is absolutely my favorite start to any downtempo release I’ve ever heard.

This is my favorite chill release of the year so far and wow idk what to say this release surprised me with how good it is.

Amazing that this is a free release I would buy it in a second.

    Nice Artwork too.

  • BraneFreeze says:

I enjoyed the music but, for me, the samples really screw up the flow of most tracks. I think this would have been a stronger album without any samples at all.

  • Edgerunner says:

Very well balanced deep enriched beautiful and still remarkably easy on the ears… I was waiting for this one a long time.. It reminds me of one of the most beautiful psychedelic gatherings I experienced.. I might be a bit biased because of the nice weather and the good mood.. I had such a peaceful bikeride accompanied by these wonderful vibe’s. It sparks depth, adventure and zest for life. Thanks!
    Keep on keeping on..

  • Smilecat says:

I love it! Very decent job …!

  • MattySchae says:

The percussion on “Learning to Walk” is OUTRAGEOUS! Its like a rock drum virtuoso having a super tight, super technical jam with a DJ. This track is a showcase of musical savvy and a rad creative expanse. The whole album is fantastic really, but Learning to Walk blows my mind. Love the juicy cymbals.

  • Reaper says:

A quality release! Never gets boring at any moment. Very creative and very soothing….Props!

  • Hannes says:

Love this one. All the different sounds are just amazing. What an incredible trip.

  • mikerowe. says:

A stunning album. Fresh, deep, groovy. Someone mentioned above that it reminded of late 90s Psy. I agree. It has that mystic/spiritual atmosphere that the mid tempo tracks of artists like MWNN, ETNICA, MUSES RAPT and COSMOSIS (to name a few) had, but is totally original at the same time. Very tasty – I’m hooked! Congrats to all involved.

  • mikerowe. says:

btw – i love the samples!

  • Matthias says:

Beautiful melodies. But misleading message. The truth is not from within us. The nature of ourselves is corruption and impurity. The only truth is from God, revealed to us in his message, the Bible. Start in the Book of John.

  • Sephira says:

Thanks for the continued comments all (c: Humbled by your love.

@Matthias – I am afraid in my idea it is you who has missed the message. My ideas are as follows – There is no difference between within us/God. The Bible is a guide, it is not to be taken literally. I am sorry that you feel that we are, in essence, corrupt and impure. This “I am not worthy” attitude can do a lot of damage. Truth is in us, around us, within everything, as is, as you put it, God. The fact is, we are all One, there is no seperation, that is the illusion used to give us the experience we have (which is useful). To summarise, I am God (and so are you, because ultimately, we are the same).

However this is not the place for this discussion.

  • Tipworld says:

this album is a rare gem ! …with a beautiful philosophy
06 – Destiny made me touch the cosmos

  • Deeply impressed. Big up, Sephira!

Superb quality of your music made me jump and write you this praise – just can’t help myself.. Love everything – words you incorporate into music (that’s a very important thing for me!) AND highest quality sounds.

Wonder who you are and wish you all the best.

P.S. Would be a beautiful Universe’s gift to meet you along the way – just to satisfie my curiosity. Who knows? ;)

When will you be releasing more music Sephira?

And for the other lovers of this album… can anyone recommend anything else similar to this??

So happy I found this site and found this incredible album. Awesome music Sephira! Thank you.

  • Goasmacked says:

@ BC from a fellow blue magnetic monkey addict: go to merkabarecords soundcloud page or website and you’ll find a free album called Psyam – Another You. Psyam is a joint project of Sephira and Semtex Yoyo. As for similar albums, I’d suggest the vast acid-drenched psybient ocean of Carbon Based Lifeform’s World of Sleepers for a start. If you like Memory Access, chances are you’ll like CBL’s Proton/Electron. Cheers and good hunting :)
