05 :: ...Life's Bubbling

Apeiron marks the formal debut of Proton Kinoun (Kasper Weensgaard), a Danish ambient producer, on Ektoplazm’s new ambient and downtempo sublabel, Omnitropic. This album is a mixture of deep drifting soundscapes, beatless ambient atmospheres, thick airy pads, and throbbing, liquid electronic percussion. Inspired by the breathtaking images of our universe captured by the sharp eyes of the Hubble Space Telescope, Apeiron is a meditative exploration of the quickening of life on cosmic scales of space and time. The use of headphones and complete darkness is recommended for a completely immersive listening experience! Mastered by Akhentek with artwork by Basilisk.

wow, this is absolutely stunning! incredible sounds, definitely a must-have for all fans of Steve Roach, Michael Stearns, Thom Brennan, etc. this release will most definitely go in my permanent collection

  • Matija says:

Kasper Weensgaard went under the name “Psylent Buddhi” and made some truly kick-ass goa trance. This is a great album, let’s hope it’s followed by some of his trademark goa in the near future :)

    Check this out: http://www.last.fm/music/Psylent+Buddhi/1997+-+2003

  • d2kx says:

The sample sounds amazing! I am a big fan of Ambient like this. A lot of so called Downtempo is not exactly Ambient but only slower and boring, Ambient is a whole different leage :) I hope there’ll be more Full On etc. material from the Ektoplazm label in the future, it has been a bit quite for the last weeks :P

  • Len says:

I am glad this excellent net release has found a new home with ektoplazm as it deserves a place as a modern space ambient classic in the ambient universe.
this music creates feelings of weightlessness as well as a sense of propulsion…a perfect catalyst for ambient mind exploration.
respect and thanks :)-~ from cape town

Unbelievable ))) Wonderful sounds! Thx for WAV!

  • Kristian says:

Finally! I’ve been waiting for you to release this for a year now! :P Good things are worth waiting for though, as this is some of the best space ambient I’ve heard.

  • Kristian says:

One thing though, why would you add so much compression to ambient music? :(

  • bastian says:

This album is abolut fantastic athmospheric work!
Thanks a lot fot the wav sound and great Artwork

  • travis says:

looking over the comments, i have to agree with Kristian, this album is mastered with a very heavy compressor which flattens out a lot of the dynamic range. it makes this album sound a lot louder than most other ambient music, and in the case of this kind of ambient, louder is definitely not better.
    still awesome music, though.

  • andi says:

thank you for that awesome album, a great work/ i hope this project will be continued/ and let’s also appreciate the great artwork

  • fldragon says:

Great music and artwork i realy thank you.

  • anderz says:

Nice work! Inspiring music! Thanks for sharing :)

  • ChrisJ says:

Absolutely stunning. Can’t agree with the “louder isn’t better” comments above … okay, too loud might be an issue, but having loud to block out all other sounds so it pervades everything is just…. perfect.

  • Squirsier says:

Here’s a suggestion : put Blade Runner DVD in DVD Player. Put subtitles on. Close the lights in the room. Settle yourself comfortably in your favorite sofa, put on this album and a good pair of headphones and hit Play on both your music and DVD player. Enjoy! :D

  • ‘[._.]’ ~ wOw! absolutely stunning .. or maybe stunned is not the werd to express my perception of this album .. just .. pure bliss * and a thousand thanx to Kasper for sharing his music with the wirld – blessed be with a cup of namastea

Very nice. This is excellent ambient music. As said by Travis, fans of the popular core ambient artists will not be disappointed by this album. Each track gradually unfolds, revealing its gems to the patient listener. Definitely one for the headphones. Thanks to the artist for allowing this to be posted.

  • JonnyB says:

Amazing album. My most played ambient piece this year. Pure freezing bliss in the vast coldness of space

  • Anthara says:

What a superb work! Amazing tracks, I can travel through the High Space with those! Thank you so much!

  • Meditative says:

So beautiful music. I felt a cosmos. Thanks.

  • ScottH says:

A truly mesmeric album filled with deep lush soundscapes and immersed in a massive psychedelic space. Being a fan of Matt Hillier’s (Ishq) music (esp. Virtual Space) this is up there. Probably the best album downloaded on this site. Look forward to the 2nd installment.

  • michael says:

Awesome cosmic, bending landscapes! More please :-)

  • Ne-As says:

    Player <> – ???

  • One of the best space albums! Thank you very much!!

  • Another Average Joe says:

Complete darkness is definitely awesome advice for this album. Totally awesome experience last night with this music!

  • Sounds amazing. I bet it’ll sound even more amazing driving the back roads tonight with 1200 watts of audio power too :)

Thanks for the free album, great work and very moving!

  • Alan The Frog says:

This is going in my top ten Ambient albums, it`s brilliant stuff. Reminds me of Thom Brennan, but with added beats.

  • Bananiq says:

this album is my all-time favorite. As the first commenter says, this album is must have for fans of Steve Roach, Robert Rich, etc.Thank you

  • AWF/YEMA says:

    Beautiful SPACE AMBIENT! Small Masterpiece!

  • James says:

No Words 4 this Album!!!it takes me into another places… I m really looking forward to the new PROTON KINOUN music!!!

  • josiahrecords says:

Excellent. worth the price of 10 euros. Easily as good as what is out there now.

  • descalabro says:

I really enjoy this album. It’s probably the richest atmospheric music I’ve ever heard. I wish it wasn’t so hard to find such deep yet dynamic space ambient.

I don’t have any problems with the mastering at all. It does sound loud but it doesn’t hurt your ears. It sounds overwhelming, as it should. And forget about compression issues, not a single detail was sacrificed. Well done.

  • Nymphomania says:

I’m of the camp that thinks this album was mastered far too hard. The compressor’s ‘breathing’ sound is distracting throughout much of the music.

Great other than that, though. Lovely emotive soundcurrents

  • Mamut says:

    I cry. Master…….cry….:)))) thx

  • Dope! Very well put together!!

  • Chris says:

I’m torn; on one hand this is the most stunning ambient I have heard…

…but the comments here about compression are right; ‘Stars Wobbling’ hurt my ears in places, I had to constantly adjust to find a comfortable place on the volume dial.

I’m very sorry to say it spoiled what would otherwise have been an ultimate journey. Would Kasper Weensgaard consider a paid remaster? I know I would buy it.

  • Emeres says:

Genius at work, keep it up.

  • minoverta says:

I take this journey every single day. In my opinion, the best ambient space album ever created.

  • minoverta says:

One tip. Lay down, relax and listen to this album with headphone on.

  • willo says:

An exceptional release. After listening to loads of ambient stuff over the decades, I’m always thrilled to find someone who truly has a distinctive style, not just some great gear…

The is an expansive, intense, compelling and complex offering full of a variety of colours and moods, and yet a very cohesive approach.
    Truly inspired and inspiring.
    Sofa King Special.

    So glad I found it…

This music give me the wings

  • Civil Disobedience says:

Listened to this regularly while studying and meditating like 10 years ago. I’ve not listened to this album in a very long time. Today something made me recall it and I will play it FLAC through audiophile grade setup; when back then I didn’t have a good audio setup and I think I had it downloaded from youtube. Server is slow but I’m grateful for someone to have this gem available today in loseless format.

A deep night study session will be filled with nostalgia as soon as the download finishes.

    Bon voyage, cosmonauts.
